The third season of LEC's Seed to Sauce Program has begun! We have been meeting with student groups starting seeds and talking about growing healthy foods and being good stewards of the land.
Already we have met with groups from Head Start and Jefferson Elementary (pictured here), with more groups scheduled throughout the spring. We are on par to match last year's total of over 1,000 individual student participants again this year!
On April 2nd, each and every student at Jefferson took part in a Seed to Sauce workshop where they started two seeds - one to take home and one that will be planted at the Community Farm.
Those seeds will be tended to by participating students and staff all summer long. Then, in the fall, the produce will be harvested by students and used to make both salsa and tomato sauce they they get to eat themselves!
We are looking forward to another year of growing with students - keep your eyes on our social media for updates so you can grow right along with us!
